International Growth Is eBays Focus

Chief Executive Officer Meg Whitman on Wednesday gave an upbeat assessment of eBay’s international business, although growth in Germany during the last three months was “not where we want them to be.” In Germany, as is also the case in the United States, growth is being pressured by recent eBay actions to improve the quality of goods offered for sale on the site, Whitman said. “We think, overall, this will have a positive effect on the marketplace,” she said during a conference call with analysts following the release of eBay’s first-quarter earnings.

 International growth has been a big focus for eBay this year, as its U.S. business growth continues to slow. That was also the case during its first-quarter, Whitman said. End of Story
