USB Security Tokens Working With PayPal

Online-payment service PayPal is considering using USB tokens embedded with smart card technology to secure e-commerce for consumers, Card Technology has learned.

A spokeswoman for PayPal, part of giant Internet auction house eBay, says the company is “working with” France-based smart card vendor Gemalto on the USB devices. “We have not deployed any of the technology yet, but we are working with them,” she tells Card Technology.
