You Need A Plan When Selling on eBay

Got a Tiffany & Co. ring or vintage Haviland china set just aching for a spot on eBay? Sure, you may make a couple hundred — or even several thousand — dollars off your goods, but selling on the ever-growing online marketplace involves so much more than taking a few pictures, writing a description and waiting for the bids to roll in.

Sellers may face copyright and trademark issues, battles to prove the authenticity of their merchandise and constant questions from sometimes-demanding potential buyers. However, with a little bit of know-how, the online auction house can be a viable option for turning unwanted valuables into hard currency.

”Even if all you want to do is clean out the garage, take it seriously,” says Jacquelyn Lynn, author of “Make Big Profits on eBay.” “It’s a business, so have a plan.”
