When Dr. Andrew Hendricks heard that the popular Internet auction site eBay was used for the sale of everything but human organs, he thought it was a joke. But when he surfed the Web site, he saw that bottles of the same potent topical compounds and creams that normally require a doctor’s signature were available to anyone with a credit card.“I was surprised when I looked on eBay and saw a number of products that were prescription strength,â€? said Hendricks, who has an office on Fayetteville Road. “And they clearly have ‘prescription strength’ written on them.â€?Hendricks says the practice of selling such items can be dangerous, even deadly. He has warned officials with eBay, who have already banned the sellers. But similar auctions keep popping up. Hendricks said the public needs to be on guard as well.
