Andrew Morbitzer, the San Francisco Giants fan who caught Barry Bonds’ 715th home run ball on May 28, put it up for auction on eBay yesterday afternoon. The bidding opened at $10,000, but nothing more during the first six hours of the 10-day auction. The auction has an undisclosed reserve price, but the ball is expected to fetch between $300,000 and $500,000, according to Brandon Steiner, president of Steiner Sports Marketing, a sports memorabilia company based in New Rochelle. Ten percent of the sale will benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, a non-profit group that matches youth with mentors.
