The Basics of eBay

Want a bit of Elvis? EBay offers almost 16,000 items bearing some relation to the King of Rock ’N’ Roll. That’s twice as many as a search for “Jesus brings up. But find a saint’s image on a soda cracker, or a Madonna’s on a muffin and you have premiere fodder for the popular pastime of online selling.

On the other hand, if your need runs closer to being able to get from one end of your cluttered garage or attic to the other, then Maggie Adams of the EZ Auction Depot in Friendswood, or one of dozens of other local eBay trading assistants, may be able to help you turn your “junque into cash in return for a percentage of the sale.

Have a pair of leather stadium seats that once graced Olympia Stadium in Detroit? Or a complete Holstein cowhide tanned to downy softness? Adams sold the former for $900 and is listing the latter now for one of her clients. Her current challenge is selling a set of Native American war clubs.

Her auctions have expanded to include real estate. You can buy a piece of Friendswood by topping the current $73,500 bid for one residential lot in Longwood Park.
