Oh, to be a fan during FIFA World Cup soccer season. For billions of people it’s a thrilling, terrifying, passionate experience, and Langley’s Jeff Bowser wanted in.
The trouble was, he didn’t really have a team to cheer for, he said. So, he decided to auction himself out.
Bowser, a 29-year-old computer professional, put his World Cup loyalty up for sale on EBay two and a half weeks ago. The bidding attracted so much interest, he decided to set up his own website where allegiance is up for sale.
“I’ve never been a huge soccer fan, but the World Cup is the biggest sporting event in the world,” Bowser said. “I wanted to get an excuse to follow it along.”
In some ways, Bowser’s situation is perfectly Canadian. He’s a third-generation Canadian from mixed Polish and British descent, giving him no obvious soccer alliances
