A group of advertisers frustrated with the old way of buying and selling TV commercial time have enlisted online auction giant eBay to create an electronic-trading system. The group, which includes top marketing execs at Wal-Mart, Lexus and Microsoft, believe eBay’s name and expertise will boost efforts to revamp a system that has stubbornly resisted change.

EBay beat several tech-savvy companies, including Google, that bid on the project, according to trade publication MediaPost.
