Brokeback Mountain Truck on eBay

Canada.com:

A Pincher Creek teenager is selling a ’50s-era pickup truck made famous in the movie Brokeback Mountain on eBay, hoping to make some cash for college by giving up his dream vehicle.

Matthew Kennedy, a 16-year-old Grade 11 student, bought the truck at an auction about a year ago, after a friend of his father’s working on the movie tipped him about the truck being sold after the end of filming in the foothills west of Calgary.

Matthew said he knew next to nothing about the movie — and never expected it to become the Oscar-winning cultural phenomenon it has become. He simply liked the truck.

“I like this era of trucks,” he said. “I was planning on restoring it, giving it a new paint job and that kind of thing. But when the movie got big, I thought I would make some money off of it.”

Although he won’t say how much he paid for the truck, his online auction has already attracted a bid of $8,000 U.S.
